Nepal Visa Information

Because it is so simple, we suggest that you obtain your tourist visa upon arrival. You must have a valid passport and one passport-size photo with a light background to get your visa on arrival. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, a visa can be obtained. It is also available at Kakarvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki, and Kerung on the Nepal-India and Nepal-China sides of the border.

Note: 

  • You can visit the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu's Kalikasthan to renew your visa.
  • In your home country, you can apply for a tourist visa at the Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission that is closest to you.

Visa Requirements 

  • A photo the size of a passport with a light background and a valid passport.
  • Only cash in the following currency is required to obtain a visa: Sterling, the Euro, the Swiss Franc, the US dollar, the Australian dollar, the Canadian dollar, the Hong Kong dollar, the Singapore dollar, and the Japanese yen.
  • Mastercard, Indian money and Nepali cash are not acknowledged as installment of visa charge

Tourist Visa Details of Nepal

  • Various passages 15 days US$ 25 or identical convertible cash.
  • For 30 days, you can enter multiple times with $40 or another convertible currency.
  • Multiple entries every 90 days with US$ 100 or an equivalent convertible currency.

Free Visa

  • Only citizens of South Asian nations like Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are eligible for a free 30-day visa for the first time during a visa year (January to December). However, the Immigration Department can extend a visa upon payment of the above-mentioned visa fee.
  • Nepal does not require a visa for Indian citizens.

Nepal Visa For Chinese Nationals
From January 5, 2016, Chinese nationals applying for a tourist visa to Nepal will receive a "gratis tourist visa" from the following Nepali missions in the People's Republic of China, according to an official circular from the Nepal Embassy in Beijing, China.

  • Nepal's General Consulate in Hong Kong.
  • Nepal has an honorary consulate in Shanghai.

Other Visa Information
Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan should acquire visas from Nepal Consulates or Political Missions in their particular nations, as they don't get a visa on landing in the movement section of Nepal.

Tourist visa extension facility

  • The fee for a 15-day visa extension is $30 US.
  • There is a daily fee of $2 for extending a visa for more than 15 days.
  • At the Department of Immigration, a visa can be extended for a maximum of 150 days during a visa year (January through December).

No visa required for

  • Children under 10 years old
  • Any outsider, who has remained in Nepal up to fifteen (15) days persistently and reenters Nepal during a similar visa year.
  • Nepal does not require a visa for Indian citizens. According to the Nepalese Movement, Indian Nationals going to Nepal via air must force any of the accompanying reports. Either an Election Commission Card or a Passport.

Do's and Don'ts

  • In one visa year, a tourist can stay in Nepal for up to 150 days.
  • Before the validity of the visa runs out, a tourist must extend it. According to the Immigration Act and Rules, a tourist who violates these regulations may be subject to fines and other forms of prosecution.
  • A foreign national with a tourist visa is prohibited from working for pay or without pay.
  • A foreign national is only permitted to perform the work for which they have obtained a visa.
