If you're looking for a great trek that isn't as well-known as the Everest and Annapurna regions, you should consider trekking in the Langtang region. It's located to the north of Kathmandu Valley, and offers a diverse trekking experience. It's a great place to explore the traditional Tamang culture, as well as a glimpse of high-altitude lakes and peaks.
The best time to visit the region is autumn, when the temperature is cooler. You'll also enjoy the beauty of wildflowers. In addition, it's less cold at higher altitudes, so your body will be less exhausted.
The area is rich in cultural history, too. In addition to the Tamangs, the Langtang region has a number of Buddhist spiritual sites and a historic fort. There are also flower meadows and traditional mountain villages.
Langtang National Park is also home to numerous birds and animals. You can also see Himalayan black bear and rhesus monkeys in this region. There are also various species of rhododendron, which you can enjoy while walking the trails.
One of the most popular trekking routes in this region is the Gosainkunda Lakes trek. This route is a good way to explore the region, as it takes you to the religious highlands. However, it's not a good trek for those who are unfit.
The Langtang Valley Trek is a moderately difficult trek. This trek requires a TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) permit, as it passes through the Langtang National Park. You'll also need a guide and some camping gear.
