The Mustang Region trek is a pristine trek that is untouched by modernization. It is a place of ancient cave dwellings and historic monuments. The region also boasts of an untouched Tibetan culture.


The upper Mustang region is a protected area and requires a Special Trekking Permit. To access this beautiful region, you need a one-time entry permit from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). It costs $20 per individual for ACAP permits.


The Lower Mustang is the most accessible of the two regions. It features a beautiful stone walled city of Lo Manthang. It also provides glimpses into the rural Nepali way of life. Its landscape is filled with grazing herds, lakes, and a variety of civilizations.


During the monsoon season, it is recommended to wear rain gear. The best time to visit the Mustang region is from July through early October.
The western mountain range is home to snow capped peaks, beautiful landscapes, and several 16th-century monasteries. The region is also a hot spot for tourism.The region has a mix of Tibetan and Nepali influences. This means that the local culture is very different from what is found elsewhere in the country.


Visiting the Mustang region is a must for anyone who wants to experience a true taste of Tibetan culture. You can find a variety of Buddhist temples and monasteries. You can also see a vast collection of ancient artifacts. The cliff homes in Mustang date from around 8 to 10,000 years ago.
